FIND YOUR
NATURAL VOICE - I CAN SING
The
participant receives help to get over their fear of singing in public
and also how to finally enjoy their own singing voice. The new singer
is healed from the “shutdown” they most likely had around
singing at some point in their life and once the wounds are healed,
they are freed to sing. In the workshop, the participant learns their
personal singing range and begins to sing in their key - perhaps for
the first time. Singing in front of other people in the workshop is
encouraged without judgement. Many will discover that they have acceptable
or even good voices and just didn’t know how to use them.
FIND YOUR NATURAL
VOICE - SINGING IN HARMONY WITH OTHERS
The
theme of this workshop is singing in harmony with others. The music of
the Beatles teaches participants to recognize simple 2 part and 3 part
harmony through songs such as Ticket to Ride & Eight Days a Week. “With
the assistance of my piano player, we teach participants how to recognize
simple 2, 3 and 4 part harmony by looking at a scale of notes and realizing
when you sing the 1-3-5 notes in the scale, you get 3 part harmony.” During
the workshop, simple harmony exercises are taught and by the end, people
ARE more aware of music harmony in their lives. They are now able to
both recognize and participate in the harmony by adding their own voice
to songs and enjoying how they sound more each day.
FIND YOUR
NATURAL VOICE - THE PERFORMANCE
The
participants of the first two workshops are invited for a major singing
and performance challenge /
opportunity. The goal is to perform 2 of your chosen songs in front of a live
audience made up of your family and friends. The participants will perform in
a theatrical venue, accompanied by a band and back up singers, so it’s
a huge undertaking with an even larger reward for an inexperienced singer. You
aren’t just thrown up on stage however. The pianist and I rehearse your
selections with you 4-5 times during the “Drop In Evening”, helping
you as a singer identity with those songs - first with piano accompaniment, then
other instruments.
FIND YOUR NATURAL VOICE - SINGERS AND PERFORMERS WORKSHOP
This workshop is an advanced singing and performing workshop. The participants in this workshop already have some singing and performing experience. The participant is coached to improve their overall ability to sing and perform. Singing techniques such as scatting, falsetto, intricate harmony singing and other singing techniques will be explored. Stage presence and the delivery of a song to an audience will be emphasized. Graduates of the Find Your Natural Voice Trilogy series are invited to do this advanced workshop.
This workshop will end with a performance by the participants in front of a live audience in a music club.
FIND YOUR NATURAL VOICE -
CHURCH WORKSHOP
This
workshop was developed for churches and other religious
institutions. In this workshop,
I am scheduled as the guest speaker at the church service.
I "tell" the
congregants my story about my singing journey around
the world. I include uplifting songs as part of my presentation. After
the
church service
- I offer a 2 1/2 hour singing workshop. The congregants
are encouraged to
open up their hearts and sing to God. The format from
the Find Your Natural Voice Workshop - I CAN SING is followed.
FIND YOUR NATURAL VOICE - CHOIR
WORKSHOP
This workshop is designed to help choirs.
I work with individual choir members to strengthen their singing
and performance skills. I am able to take a section of the choir(such
as the bass section) and work with each individual member of that
section.
In many choirs, vocal sections have 1 or 2 members who are soloists.
The rest of the section members tend to “lean” on these stronger singers to carry the section. I work with the “other” members
of the section to be able to hold their own as a soloist - especially
if the actual soloist is not going to be present for a performance.
As a result, the participant becomes stronger in his section. They may not actually become soloists - however they are much stronger as a result. The entire choir can improve as a result of these techniques. |
